<image:title>About Becca - About Becca</image:title>
<image:caption>Through movement, soundscapes, ritual, performance, and healing practices, my work explores connection—to self, others, the earth, and the unknown. My deep love for the wild finds expression in the landscapes of Dartmoor, where I feel most at home among granite, waters, moss, and trees. The workshops and classes I offer are inspired by my twelve years of intensive study with Helen Poynor in Environmental Movement, as well as by my studies with Javanese movement artist Suprapto Suryodarmo (Prapto), Northern Drum Shamanic Practice, long-term exploration of Somatic Movement, and ongoing engagement with my own movement artistic practice. I also work in Devon NHS Trust as an Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP registered) Dance Movement Psychotherapist (ADMP registered) and Environmental Arts Therapist (SEAT). I studied performance, live art and physical theatre intensely from the age of 14-21. I am a fully qualified Open Floor International Movement Teacher, ADMP registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist (MA) Outdoor Nature Therapist (WIlderness Foundation) and Environmental Arts Therapist (SEAT). I am training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and have also trained with Gendered Intelligence to support my working alongside trans, gender diverse and questioning people. As a queer, non-binary person I hold inclusivity as central to my work. Publications: Becca Parkinson (2023) Eco dance movement psychotherapy (EDMP) and queer embodied kinship with the more than human world in Body, Movement and Dance in Psychotherapy https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17432979.2023.2256373?src=</image:caption>

<image:title>Conscious dance – Open Floor - conscious dance- open floor</image:title>
<image:caption>I offer Open Floor movement journeys interweaving free-form movement, music, somatic explorations, ritual and artistic practices. The movement meditation of Open Floor allows us to witness the many ways we have been shaped by life. As we move, our embodied scripts unfold; some known, others unknown. We journey deeply into the liminality of the dance. Through the dancing body we imagine, we pray, we dream, we morph our movement and shapes in the world. We come to know our wild, instinctual intelligence and soulful expression. I am trained in Open Floor Movement Practice and have been facilitating for the past six years. Previously I studied the movement meditation and conscious dance practice of 5 Rhythms intensely from the age of fifteen. Open Floor Movement conscious dance practice was founded when Gabrielle Roth (the founder of 5 Rhythms) died by some of the core teacher trainers of 5 Rhythms; including Kathy Altman, Lori Saltzman and Andrea Juhan.</image:caption>

<image:title>Eco somatic & movement Journeys - Eco Somatic & Movement Journeys</image:title>
<image:caption>In my work I offer simple movement scores and rituals to ground us in physical embodied kinship with the wonders of the earth body. We open the gateway of our senses; as we move in response to rock, moss, river, sky. These moving, somatic and intimate encounters with the natural landscape open doorways to embodied wilding; healing, imagining, remembering of the potential of being a human body. What worlds are possible inside of ourselves when we surrender to meeting the natural world? As we rest, move, touch, smell earth what emerges? As we move and ground in physical embodied kinship with the earth body, what potential is there to unmake and shape shift our embodied scripts; to remember our earth body? We listen to the language of the wild with deep respect. The workshops and classes I run are inspired by intensive study with Helen Poynor whom I’ve studied Environmental Movement with for the last twelve years. Other influences include studying with Suprapto Suryodarmo (Prapto), a Javanese movement artist, Northern Drum Shamanic. Practice, long term study of Somatic Movement, along with ongoing explorations in Butoh and artistic practice. My training as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and conscious dance Open Floor Movement Facilitator also inform how I curate Eco Somatic and Movement journeys.
